The ceramic workshop Ortiki is the result of a creative journey that began early in my life and continues with passion and dedication to art. My name is Kostas, and from a young age, my life has been filled with colors and shapes. Playing with clay and drawing, I developed a love for artistic expression. As a child, I wanted to become a veterinarian, but art always captured my heart. Later, the dream of becoming a painter inspired me, and as I grew older, the idea of becoming an architect fascinated me, as it combined creativity with practicality.
However, life led me to clay. Nine years ago, I decided to fully dedicate myself to ceramics. For seven years, I had a wonderful partnership with a colleague, and together we created the workshop “To Mirmigki”, which was the starting point of my professional journey in ceramics. For the last two years, I decided to continue on my own and created the workshop Ortiki, which expresses my own creative identity and philosophy.
The name Ortiki, that it means quail in Greek, is no coincidence. The quail is a small bird that lives close to the ground but flies freely in the air. This image reflects my philosophy of art: the combination of freedom and connection to the earth, nature, and the real world. Just like the quail, which walks and lives on the ground but takes flight to seek new horizons, my ceramics blend traditional craftsmanship with contemporary creation and the freedom of experimentation.
For me, Ortiki is a place that seeks balance between the earth and the sky, between matter and idea. The earth, the clay, is the foundation from which all my works are born, while the creative process, like the quail, leads me to the air — to the freedom of expression and innovation.
At Ortiki, I create handmade pieces, from functional to decorative, with great attention to detail and deep respect for the tradition of ceramics. Each piece is unique and radiates the warmth of the hands that made it. Ortiki is not just a workshop; it is a space for creation, introspection, and renewal, where every piece is a small world waiting to be discovered.
Discover the magic of ceramics and let Ortiki offer you a unique work, made with passion and respect for the art of clay, and for life itself.
